I am supporting Jeanne for UUA President because of my experience working with her and observer her as a UUA Trustee, during my tenure as Observer for the District Presidents’ Association.
Jeanne understands that good stewardship is about funding our vision and values, while using our financial resources prudently. Her commitment to our values is reflected in her early support for fully restoring funds promised, and not given, to black UUs during the Black Empowerment Controversy in the 1960’s. As Chair of the UUA Board’s Finance Committee, she demonstrated her commitment to budgets that are explicitly tied to our UUA vision and mission. Jeanne is committed to ensuring that in an era of tight financial resources, we understand the effectiveness of programs we fund.
During small group discussions about the UUA Ends statements, I found Jeanne to be able and willing to think beyond our traditional framework, to envision new possibilities of relationship within our Association. She is a caring listener; seeking to understand the points of view of others. Jeanne understands the importance of covenant among UU congregations, as well as the importance of covenant between congregations and the UUA.
I am pleased to endorse Jeanne Pupke for UUA President.
